Students considered what is a dream and what dreams might mean while keeping a dream journal of both daydreams and sleep dreams. Students then sketched ideas for a portrait communicating a single dream or a combination of of many ideas. Students needed to be able to explain how each symbol in the piece was connected to their overall idea.
